About the Author
Gertrude Chandler Warner was born in 1890 in Putnam, Connecticut, where she taught school and wrote The Boxcar Children because she had often imagined how delightful it would be to live in a caboose or freight car. Encouraged by its success, she went on to write eighteen more stories about the Alden children.
Tim Jessell is the illustrator of many books for children. He lives in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with his wife and children.

A Wonderful Gift Set!

This was a great gift set that any fan of the series would love, or any young reader would appreciate as a fun surprise. The books are beautifully bound and you are even given a CD to go with the books as well which my girls thought was a nice add-on. We had read the first three books in the series in the past but our copies were quite well loved to say the least, so this gift set will now become a nice treasured addition to our library! I highly encourage all to consider this today!

Great Gift

The grandparents sent this as a birthday gift. I am thrilled to be able to introduce my daughter to the Alden children with these lovely books. The hardcover books are nicely bound with the new graphics on the dust jacket. The illustrations on the inside are the classic black & white ones. The pages are a nice weight of paper, and are a cream color instead of bright white. The outer box the books come packaged in is the standard, white card stock with a glossy finish, but there is room to slide the books in and out without damaging either the dust jacket or the box.
We had to read a few chapters in the book the first night, and I think she is hooked!
I look forward to playing the audiobook for some back ground on the Alden children. It looks like more volumes were added after I stopped reading!
