My child enjoys these

About once a week over the past three years my daughter has been doing reading lessons from the McCall-Crabbs books. She enjoys them, and I have noticed her comprehension steadily improve as she answers the related questions. I like these because they require her to thoughtfully read though the short, one-page passages for information, picturing in her "mind's eye" what they are about. I see it as active, engaged reading rather than passive reading that is being cultivated. I do wish the passages were a little longer for level C.

McCall-Crabbs are outstanding resources for those wanting to enhance reading comprehension. The lessons can be used in a variety of ways to teach skills, or to test skill levels. These are tried-and-true and I've used them for years and years!

Perfect, quick, easy way to practice and improve comprehension. Does not come with answer key, though, so that would have to be completed by the teacher/parent or purchased separately.
