Gorgeous Projects

Your eyes will be delighted and your fingers will quiver in eagerness to get at some of these projects (the oak leaf footstool cover for me!). They are truly gorgeous and worth spending many hours to make, knowing that they will be such beautiful additions to our homes, or gifts to our friends. Wait until you see the wild red sky with the raven and the little fluffy foxes! Wait until you see the florentine valance and wish yourself queen of the realm and able to command the skills of 10 embroiderers to make several for you! And YES, they are easy-to-make projects because she has given such clear directions, charts, colour advice, and photos of her own finished products for each one. Everything you need is right here.

Gorgeous original illustrations...projects could be a little more artistic

I hate it when I'm trying to design what needlework books to buy and there is no Look Inside feature. So I put up a bunch of Images so you get a good idea what this book holds. (I hope you appreciate it because I broke the spine of my book to scan the images.) I don't disagree with the other reviewers and am delighted that they like this book so much. However, while I really love the original works of art these projects stem from, many of the projects are not true enough to them and some are downright bizarre. Look at the first project from the book shown above. Would you want that hanging on your wall? There's one other one of knights and ladies riding and it's really hard to make out the picture. The project is a mess.
However, the final 2 Images are the source and resulting project of a knight leading others to the Crusades. The pillow is quite true to form (although...with that helm...which way is the knight facing?).
I must point out that one of the illuminations is of St. John the Evangelist being boiled in oil and another shows a procession led by the Pope during the Black Death--they're trudging over bodies. Regardless, the orange box top inspired by this illumination is probably the prettiest project.
I would have liked the projects to be a little more in-depth. But the author promised easy projects and that's what she provides. All in all...a nice addition to your library.
